It runs on 800 square metres of indoor wall, and the gym also claims Berlin’s largest outdoor climbing area. That outdoor season runs from April to September. Walls and terrain

The indoor wall covers 800 square metres at a height of 4.5 metres. That is a mid-size hall by Berlin standards. Ostbloc runs over 1,000 square metres, for example. The former industrial hall has big glass windows, and visitBerlin describes the space as bright enough to climb by daylight.

Grading works by colour. Each boulder uses handholds and footholds of one colour. The difficulty number sits on the card below the holds. Two climbers can agree on a grade at a glance, while the start carries two labels and the top one. Climbers hold the marked top hold for three seconds to finish. visitBerlin counts eight difficulty levels across the hall, which suits first-timers and gym regulars alike.

The training area includes a Kilterboard. That is a standardised LED board with a large database of problems, which regulars use for repeatable training. The gym re-sets its problems regularly, though it does not publish a fixed setting day. During the 2025 Get High qualifier, the hall set 40 new problems over four weeks. The outdoor area

Prices and memberships

All prices come from the gym’s own price list, and since they change, the stamp below matters.

Children are ages 4 to 13. The discounted rate covers ages 14 to 17 plus pupils, apprentices, students, people with disabilities, and several benefit groups. The family pass covers up to four people. It needs at least one child up to 17 and at most two adults. The 10+1 card is personal, which means it only works at the hall where it was bought.

Memberships run monthly. S gives four entries at one gym, while M is a flat rate at one gym. L covers every urban apes hall and needs a one-month minimum term. The gym’s own materials note that entries can be used across the Berlin halls: Basement, Bright Site, Wedding, and Fhain. A trial month at 34.90 euros includes shoe rental, but only for first-time visitors.

The cheapest single entry is the early bird before 16:00 on weekdays at 11.90 euros. A family of four with two adults and two children pays 29.90 on the family pass. Four single day passes would cost 47.60, so the family pass undercuts them by a wide margin. Shoes add 4.90 euros, and a service fee of 19.90 euros applies to new memberships only.

Who it suits

Bright site suits climbers who want daylight, outdoor walls in summer, and a family-friendly floor. It works for beginners, since the gym states that no previous experience is necessary. The separate kids’ hall and the family pass make it a strong pick for parents. On that front it competes well with Bouldergarten, which is the other Berlin hall built around families.

It suits urban apes members most of all. An L-membership works across the chain, so bright site becomes a summer add-on to a home hall. Community threads on r/bouldering treat the chain’s halls as solid recommendations for visitors. One Berlin thread called out Bright Site and the Basement as the pick of the urban apes gyms. For the best bouldering in Berlin, the outdoor season here is a genuine point of difference.
