Boulderwelt München West: profile, prices, and hours

Boulderwelt München West opened in 2014, inside a heritage-protected brick building in Neuaubing. The gym describes the hall, at 2,500 square metres, as one of the largest and most modern bouldering halls worldwide. It’s the second of the chain’s three Munich halls. At prime time it’s also the cheapest, at 15.90 euros, a euro under the Ost sibling. This profile compiles what the gym publishes on its own pages, dated as of September 2026.

The hall at a glance

Walls and terrain

The climbing spreads over two floors. The ground floor holds the parcours area, the outdoor block, and the café. The first floor adds the kids and youth world, the mixed area, and the Trainingswelt. Changing rooms sit up there too, per the hall page.

The gym grades problems on its own scale of 1 to 9, mapped to the Fontainebleau system. Level 1 runs Fb 2a to 3b, and level 9 starts at Fb 7b+. The color of the holds says nothing about the grade, which the hall page states explicitly. Downclimber grips on the high walls give climbers a gentler way back down.

Routesetting runs on a weekly cycle. The gym resets three wall sections every week, normally on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The plan is published on the hall page.

A day pass covers all of it, but the entry price varies by time of day. The chart shows the three standard adult options from the gym’s pricing page.

West is also the Munich hall with real outdoor bouldering. A 450-square-metre outdoor block sits off the ground floor, and the roof adds another 90 square metres of boulder surface. A May 2026 TripAdvisor review calls the outdoor area “fantastic”, while noting the hall gets busier in the evening.

The big hall has an age rule, as at the Ost sibling. Children enter only from 14, or earlier with a valid Boulderführerschein. The gym runs the free test for kids and their supervising adults, per its hall page.

Training and the Trainingswelt

Training sits on the first floor. The Definierwand runs on the Stōkt app, where climbers define their own problems and compare attempts with other users. A campus board, a ladder wall, a pegboard, and traverses for warm-ups complete the setup, per the hall page.

The Trainingswelt adds 160 square metres of functional training. The gym’s fact sheet lists a tower, TRX sling trainers, and kettlebells from 4 to 20 kilograms. A barbell, a boxing bag, and battle ropes round it out, plus plyo boxes and medicine balls.

Complete beginners can book the Einführung für Boulderneulinge. The workshop runs 90 minutes at 18 euros plus entry, per the gym’s course page.

Facilities beyond the walls

The kids world takes up 200 square metres of floor on the first floor. Its boulder surface covers another 300 square metres. A toddler area for children from about 2 to 3 has a hand-painted underwater world and an Inca jungle. A parcours area serves children up to 14, per the hall page.

The mixed area beside it opens to children from age 6. Kinderboulder problems are marked with a hand symbol and use smaller holds and shorter moves.

Prices and memberships

All prices below come from the gym’s pricing page and carry the September 2026 stamp.

The reduced rate covers young people 14 to 18, pupils, students, and trainees. People in voluntary service, disabled-pass holders, and seniors from 60 qualify too, per the pricing page. Honorary-card and city-pass holders are included as well. Young people 14 to 18 need a consent form or an adult bouldering with them.

The Monats-Abo and Jahreskarte work in every Boulderwelt hall in Germany. That matters when you compare what bouldering costs across cities.

Kids and family tickets follow their own table. The Kids-Kombi covers one adult plus one child under 14 at 20.90 in prime time. The Familienkarte covers two parents or partners plus their own children under 18, at 38.90. Children under 3 climb free with a paying adult. A child under 14 adds 5.00 to an adult card or abo. With a corporate-fitness partner, the surcharge is 7.50, per the pricing page.

Children under 14 may not use the hall alone, and children under 6 may only boulder in the kids world. A valid Boulderführerschein opens up the whole hall except the training area, per the pricing page.

Corporate fitness passes work without a surcharge. The gym accepts EGYM Wellpass, Urban Sports Club, Hansefit, and Wellhub, per its pricing page.

Who it suits

West suits families first. A TripAdvisor reviewer who climbs there almost every weekend calls it “the best bouldering world for families”. The parents boulder downstairs while the kids use the first floor. The same review flags a real caveat: in bad weather, the kids world gets crowded. Sunday mornings are the quiet window.

Climbers who want outdoor options have a genuine reason to pick West. The outdoor block and roof section sit in the hall’s own fact sheet. Reviewers single the outdoor area out. The Trainingswelt covers strength work in one room, with kettlebells, a barbell, and battle ropes on the gym’s inventory.

It’s a slightly different deal than the Ost sibling. West charges 15.90 at prime time to Ost’s 16.90, and it opens an hour later on weekdays, at 7:00.
