Bouldering in München: the halls worth knowing

Munich’s bouldering scene has one dominant name: Boulderwelt. The chain runs three halls around the city, and they set the standard. Around them sit newer independents, two DAV centers, and a club hall. Adult bouldering day passes run from 9.00 to 16.90 euros, as of August 2026. This guide follows the same format as the Berlin guide: one fact set per hall. It covers size, prices, hours, and who each hall suits. Facts come from the halls’ own pages and are dated August 2026.
The halls worth knowing
The three Boulderwelt locations split the city by geography. Ost sits in Berg am Laim, West in Neuaibing, and Süd in Brunnthal, just south of the city. Ost is the largest, and the one climbers name first. The table below gives the essentials.

All three halls open 365 days a year. Day passes were re-priced in October 2025, so older guides list other numbers, per its pricing pages. A Monats-Abo costs 69.00 euros and works in every Boulderwelt hall in Germany. The Chains hub covers how the operator runs its locations.
The Boulderwelt trio
Boulderwelt Ost is the biggest bouldering hall in Munich, per the gym’s own hall page. It lists over 300 boulders on over 1,500 square metres, graded Fb 1a to 8a. Walls run 2.5 to 4.5 metres high, and the longest overhang spans 15 metres. Behind the competition wall sits the Creative Lab, an area for experimental problems. Climbers on r/Munich single it out when asked about technical routes. Training kit includes a MoonBoard and a campus board, and a cafe and rooftop bar round out the top floor.
Boulderwelt West opened in 2014 inside a listed brick building in Neuaibing, per its hall page. The hall covers 2,500 square metres indoors, with 1,000 square metres of mat area. It grades by level: level 1 starts around Fb 2a-3b, and level 9 from Fb 7b+. Three wall sections get re-set every week, usually on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The training world adds a campus board, a rung wall, and a Steckbrett, plus a definable wall for the Stōkt app. Families get a kids world for children from about two years old.
Boulderwelt Süd is the newest of the three, opened in 2022 in Brunnthal, per a Munich bouldering timeline. The gym states its climbing area covers over 1,400 square metres, and its hall page claims the only KilterBoard in Munich. The site lists a Krabbeltreff and kids programs, making it the family pick. Parking is free if you scan the QR code at check-in, which extends the free window to seven hours.
Beyond the chain
The chain does not own the scene. Four more halls are worth knowing, and each fills a niche.

Element Boulders opened in Obersendling in April 2022, per a local news report. Its main area covers about 2,500 square metres, plus a 600-square-metre kids and family zone, per its site. Day passes run 16.00 on-site and 15.00 online, per its price page. Climbers on r/Munich praise it as a fantastic facility with fair prices.
einstein is the early-bird hall. It opens at 6:00 on weekdays, and its early-bird pass costs 11.00 until 14:00, per its price page. The day pass runs 15.50, and the monthly abo 39.00.
Heavens Gate opened in 1998 inside the old potato silos of the Pfanni works, per its hall page. The 30-metre silos survived a full rebuild between 2017 and 2021. A bouldering-only day pass costs 12.00; climbing plus bouldering runs 19.90, per its pricing page.
SV Neuperlach runs a club center where no membership is required. Its price list, valid from January 2026, puts the bouldering-only day pass at 9.00 for guests. The center adds 31 indoor rope lines and 8 outdoor ones, per the club.
The DAV runs two large centers at Thalkirchen and Freimann, both with bouldering halls. Thalkirchen’s Kraftraum sits on the second floor of hall 2, per its site. Munich also has one free option: the Riesige Rosi boulder tunnel in the former Ramersdorf underpass. Climbers on r/bouldering put it at about 75 metres. It stays open around the clock, and the Kraxlkollektiv, a DAV group, re-sets it.
The price picture
Day passes cluster between 15.50 and 16.90 at the big halls. Two halls break the pattern: Heavens Gate at 12.00 and SV Neuperlach at 9.00, both for bouldering only. The chart compares the standard adult bouldering day pass across seven halls.
Every big hall runs a cheaper window. Boulderwelt’s happy hour applies Monday to Friday before 9:00 and after 21:00, per its pricing pages. It runs 14.90 at Ost, and 13.90 at West and Süd, per the Süd pricing page. einstein’s early bird runs until 14:00 on weekdays at 11.00. Heavens Gate prices its early bird before 15:00 at 9.50 for bouldering. Students get Studi Monday deals: 11.90 at Ost, 10.90 at West and Süd, and 9.00 at einstein.
Monthly abos differ more than day passes. Boulderwelt’s Monats-Abo runs 69.00 and covers all three halls. Element’s costs 59.00, and einstein’s 39.00. SV Neuperlach’s Kletter-Abo pairs an 18.00 monthly club fee with a 41.00 climbing fee. It drops all entry charges.
Corporate fitness covers most halls. Boulderwelt and Element accept EGYM Wellpass, Urban Sports Club, Hansefit, and Wellhub without surcharge. Coverage changes, so check each hall first.
